Platform overview

Database-independent:

though the majority of the Drupal installations use MySQL, there are other options, Drupal incorporate a ‘database abstraction layer’ which is implemented and maintained for MySQL and PostgresSQL, however is easy to incorporate support for other databases.

Multiplatform:

Drupal has been designed from the beginning to be a multiplatform system. It can work with Apache or IIS as web servers and in operating systems like Linux, BSD, Solaris, Windows and Mac OS. Also as it is implemented using PHP is very portable.

Multi-language and Localization:

Drupal supply options to create a multilingual portal, all the content can be easily translated using a web interface, by importing existing translations or integrating other tools like GNU ettext
